SYSTEM OVERVIEW
MSS components
MSS is an ultra simple and easy to integrate subsea positioning tool, consisting of the few elements:
Control Panel
The control panel is designed with a built-in PLC industrial computer from OMRON. The joystick enables easy control of the position and heading of the subsea tool. Further, the HMI provides an overview of all relevant data of the system.
- Subsea Cable and Pipe Detection
- Multiple Purpose Grab
- Various Seabed Installation
Control Cabinet
The control cabinet is designed with industrial electronics and controllers from OMRON. The controllers provided are MX2 controllers together with a configuration file. The cabinet operates with a power supply of 3x400 VAC and is made in stainless steel such it is suitable for outdoor use.
- Power Supply: 3x 400 VAC - 32A
- IP 54
- Remote Support By Internet VPN Connection
- Power
Cable Winch
The cable winch is motorized and designed for offshore environment. The winch is managed by a remote such the winch is easy and safe to operate. The umbilical is neutrally buoyant and can be customized for each application.
- Surface coating - MA 4 Offshore Environment
- Remotely operated
- 1689x1142x1502 mm
- Customized Umbilical
Thrusters
The propulsion solution consists of thrusters that are connected to a junction box. The junction box is completely oil-free and can be customized if additional thrusters are wanted. The thrusters are extremely robust and reliable due to the unique design. The surrounding seawater cools the thruster and enables operation at maximum power for extended periods of time. The result is an exceptionally powerful and reliable propulsion solution.

DERINSU UNDERWATER ENINEERING
Breaking records
Derinsu, a specialized underwater engineering and offshore survey company, leveraged the Maneuvering Subsea System (MSS) to install an impressive 11,000 mattresses underwater, demonstrating the versatility and reliability of the system.
The MSS’s precision, reliability, and efficiency proved invaluable in enabling complex operations at depths of up to 100 meters.
Maintaining exact positioning during pipeline and cable installations between 10m–100m water depth was a complex task. Traditional methods using divers for shallow installations and ROVs for deeper work often resulted in extended timelines and increased costs.
The Maneuvering Subsea System provided Derinsu with an integrated solution, combining custom-designed mechanical frames with MSS’s fully electric, oil-free thrusters. Equipped with underwater cameras, lights, and USBLs, the MSS ensured precise positioning and reliable operation. The thrusters’ rapid response times and joystick-controlled maneuverability allowed the system to meet demanding operational requirements with ease.
- Deringsu successfully installed 11,000 mattresses at depths of 100 meters, demonstrating the MSS’s versatility and precision in harsh underwater environments.
- Copenhagen Subsea thrusters achieved an extraordinary 4,000 hours of operation without a single breakdown, showcasing unmatched durability and reliability.
